St. Luke’s defends validity of drug test on Bongbong

THE St. Luke’s Medical Center on Thursday issued a clarification after doubts were raised on the result of drug tests of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. recently.

In clarifying the issue on the format of the printed result, where some netizens doubted if it was really St. Luke’s that did the test because the address writted was Brgy. Ususan instead of Brgy. Fort Bonifacio where it is located, the hospital stated:

1.    The format of the printed test result is standard and common among all healthcare facilities authorized by the Department of Health (DOH) to conduct dangerous drug tests.

2.    Regarding the mention of Brgy. Ususan as our location, this is because that is the only available location in DOH Integrated Drug Test Operation Management Information System when St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City was accredited in 2010.

With this, St. Luke’s appealed to the public to refrain from posting “misleading and inaccurate information on social media.”

“St. Luke’s calls on everyone to verify the information they receive from others and the information they plan to post online,” added the hospitals’s statement.

Marcos, a former senator, on Tuesday said that he took a cocaine test and had submitted the results to three government law enforcement agencies after President Duterte disclosed that a presidential aspirant, whom he did not name, was a cocaine addict.

“I really don’t feel that I am the one being alluded to,” Marcos said in a statement said.

However, he stressed that he submitted himself to undergo the drug test believing that “it is my inherent duty as an aspiring public official to assure my fellow Filipinos that I am against illegal drugs.”
