There is no question that The Beatles are the most influential pop act of the 20th century. So it comes as no surprise that there are more tribute acts devoted to the Fab Four than any other artist considered just as iconic.
But while the individual members of The Beatles successfully carved their own niche after the band decided to go their separate ways, there is not a lot of tribute acts devoted to either John, Paul, George, or Ringo. We do know now that at least one has taken his admiration for the legendary leader of The Beatles to an entirely different level.
Argentinian Javier Parisi is now dubbed as “the world’s greatest John Lennon tribute act” with a repertoire that not only includes Lennon’s greatest hits with The Beatles but also some of the highlights of his post-Beatles career from Imagine to Double Fantasy.
Currently in the Philippines to promote a series of performances that kicks off this Saturday, July 15 at the Music Museum, Javier gave SoundStrip and other members of the media a taste of what to expect in his coming shows during his recent press conference at Hard Rock Café Manila.
Javier, who has been performing as John Lennon for over 20 years now revealed that he has been a Beatles fan since he was 8 but it wasn’t until the age of 18 that he started considering performing as Lennon after his friends told him of his uncanny physical resemblance to the latter.
“When I turned 20, that’s when I started to put together a band with my friends. I believe that was the first time I started performing as John with all the costumes and even his mannerisms,” he shared.
Very much aware that The Beatles themselves made headlines when they performed in the Philippines in 1966, Javier is thrilled that his series of shows now also serve as a homecoming of sorts for longtime fans of the Fab Four who have always yearned for a return visit by any of The Beatles.
“I’m really excited to meet the Filipino fans. My performances also serve as a celebration of Lennon and The Beatles’ unparalleled legacy of utilizing music as an agent of social change. It’s my honor to share this gift with the music lovers out there who want a piece of the past even just for a moment. I promise to entertain and not disappoint,” the Buenos Aires performer vowed.
Happening this July 15 at the Music Museum, IMAGINE: The Beatles Legacy is presented by DMC Philippines. Tickets are still available via Ticketmax and Ticketworld, or you may call the Music Museum at 8721 0635 / 8721 6726.
